Ryuhei Kitamura, the director of this film is known for Versus and Azumi and reviews I have read of this movie are soso. It is quite dark and slow. The fight scenes were a little overdone, and there wasn't much original about them. I liked the background music. I usually watch movies in the original language and read subs, but I can't knit and read subs at the same time, so I watched the movie with the English dub.
The premise of the story was decent, but never quite develops well.
I will give it 2/5 acorns.
